The New York Mills Rough Ride Rodeo is considered another success this year as attendance held steady, despite the threat of rain on Saturday.

Dennis Swenson, committee chairman of the event, was pleased with the Friday and Saturday performances.

"Things went really well. It was a good rodeo," he said.

Swenson reported just shy of 1,400 in attendance for the two nights; 710 on Friday and 686 on Saturday. Friday night's rodeo saw perfect weather and Saturday the heavy rains held off until a downpour during the final event, with just three bull riders remaining to compete.

The event cleared an estimated $3,000 and is a fundraiser for the New York Mills Civic & Commerce Association.

Two bikes were given away each night.Bike winners Friday-Eli Benning, Verndale and Tara Brown, Perham; Saturday-Megan Engebretson, St. Cloud and Reese Davison, Brainerd.
