Seventh annual Holmes Art Show to be held at Holmes Theatre

Artists will display paintings, sculpture, pottery, glasswork, collage and other fine arts as part of the seventh annual Holmes Art Show Nov. 18-20 in the Holmes Ballroom at the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes.

Opening reception is Thursday, Nov. 18 from 5:30-8 p.m. Hours on Friday and Saturday are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Holmes Art Show is part of the BTD Community Connections Series at the Holmes Theatre.

This year's featured artist is Ruth Kary. Her photograph, "Piercing Baby Blues," was chosen to be used in promotion for this year's show. Other exhibitors this year include: Dee Bowman, Sharon Blazek, Bob Cummings, Ellen Jean Diederich, Ingrid Erickson, Carol Evenson, Brian Geihl, Barbara Groth, Jan Herbert, Carmen McCullough, Becky Mitchell, Peggy Pfingsten, Eric Satwire and Mary Schutz.

There will be free entertainment all three days of the art show, starting with local singer/songwriter Carrie Sorensen performing in the Holmes Theatre at 7 p.m. on opening night. Mixed Blood Theatre, based out of Minneapolis, will be presenting "Daughters of Africa" at 7 p.m. on Friday night, and the Lakes Area Community Concert Band will wrap up the art show on Saturday with a freewill donation concert at 4 p.m.
