"Disco Inferno" musical to bring 1970s back to NY Mills

The New York Mills Drama Club will be performing the musical "Disco Inferno" Nov. 19-20 at 7:30 p.m. in the James Mann Performing Arts Center.

A 2 p.m. Sunday matinee has been added on Sunday, Nov. 21.

Tickets will be available an hour prior to the performances on all three days.

The show will feature memorable songs of the 70s era along with references to the time period.

More than 40 students, under the direction of Rebecca Clarksean and Carrie Ann Pollard, will "warm hearts, get feet tapping, and leave the audience smiling with fondest memories of a sensational era," according to a news release from the school.

"Disco Inferno," is about a man named Jack working late in a nightclub called Disco Inferno in 1976.

Jack meets a mysterious woman who happens to be an associate of the devil. Dreaming of becoming successful, he makes a deal with her, trading his soul to fulfill his wildest fantasies. It will be a decision he will soon regret.

Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Ticket sales will help fund the NY Mills drama team to bring future performances to the city of NY Mills.

Dinner and a show

Guests are also invited to a 1970s style meal in the school's commons area prior to the performances on Friday and Saturday. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. on both nights.

The NY Mills Close Up program will be serving hamburgers, fries, and root beer floats for $5 a plate. Hamburgers can be substituted for hot dogs for $4 a plate.

Close Up students will have 70s music and nostalgia throughout the commons.

Dinner sales will help send the NY Mills Close Up students to Washington, D.C. in the spring.

In the spirit of "Disco Inferno," NY Mills students will put an emphasis on the 1970s during the week of the musical by having various activities related to the decade.
