MSHSL Art Festival to open at NY Mills cultural center

The Region 6A annual Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Art Festival will be held at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center from Wednesday, April 27 to Wednesday, May 4.

Judging begins at the cultural center on Wednesday, April 27 and concludes on Friday, April 29. The show is open to the public for viewing on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, May 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 4, the exhibit continues with 122 student artists at the cultural center, the NY Mills School and the NY Mills City Hall Ballroom engaging with university art teachers in workshops and classes all day. The show culminates with an award ceremony to be held at the NY Mills School Auditorium that afternoon.

Eleven high schools are represented in this show with work featuring their best student artists. Tara Hager, art instructor from Hawley, and Shelli Fenske, art teacher from Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton, are the organizers of this year's festival.

In addition to those two schools, participating artists are from NY Mills, Perham, Barnesville, Frazee, Bertha-Hewitt, Menahga, Lake Park-Audubon, Pelican Rapids and Verndale.
