Barbershop and Gospel benefit show to be held at PHS

Submitted photo Heart O' Lakes Harmony, a barbershop harmony group with members from all over Otter Tail and Becker counties, will perform a benefit show in Perham this Saturday.

Radio personality David Howey will emcee a fundraising performance at the Perham High School Auditorium this Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m.

The Perham Good Samaritan Fund and Heart O' Lakes Harmony will benefit from this show.

Audiences are invited to enjoy a fun evening of barbershop harmony and gospel music sung in four-part a cappella style by three quartets and a male chorus of 40 men.

Heart O' Lakes Harmony is one of 800 chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the world's largest all male singing organization. The group meets every Monday evening to rehearse and socialize.

There are about 35 singers of all ages in Heart O' Lakes Harmony, from all walks of life and from all parts of Otter Tail and Becker counties. The main purpose of the group is to preserve that old American institution, the barbershop quartet. They accomplish this by singing and presenting barbershop harmony both as quartets and as a chorus.

Tickets are $10 and are available at the door or at the Perham Chamber of Commerce.
