The nomination is now on its way to Washington, D.C., for final review. A final decision should become public in May.

The Prospect House was nominated to the National Register because of its architectural design and transformation into a “Colonial Revival Style” house in 1929.

Today, the Prospect House is a museum, displaying and preserving the history of James A. “Cap” Colehour, Civil War veterans and the four generations of family that transformed the structure from a hotel to a family residence.
