Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) will be celebrated at the Cultural Center in New York Mills on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dia de los Muertos is a major holiday celebrated in Mexican and other Latino cultures. It is a time to remember and celebrate the lives of friends and family members who have died.

The Cultural Center will feature Dia de los Muertos art prints in the gallery from Oct. 30 through Nov. 7. This will include a 104-foot print on display in the front of the center.

A four-panel community “ofrenda,” or altar, made by artist Xavier Tavera, will be on display, ready to receive additions from visitors. Tavera will also give a presentation on the art of Dia de los Muertos at 11 a.m. Nov. 2.

From noon until 3 p.m., Mexican food will be available at the Creamery.

At 2 p.m., Las Guadalupanas Folklore Dance Company from Long Prairie, Minn., will perform.
