Cultural Center hosts Longest Night Festival

In celebration – and lamentation – of the longest night of the year, join with friends and neighbors at the Cultural Center in New York Mills on Saturday for a fun, free concert at 7 p.m.

A bevy of local and regional performers will be at the center to celebrate the solstice and the season of light, performing a few songs each or in small groups.

Entertainers will include: Lisa Winter, Fr. Peter Kirchner, John Perry, Dave Virnala, Dennis Happel, Lou Hoglund, Marie Nitke, Doug Eckes, Michael Dagen, Amber Fletschock, Adam Dagen, Jim Van Schaick, Amy Wallgren, Heidi Dresser, Ben Ranson, Nora Hyde, David Stoddard, Renita McGrane and Macelle Mahala,

The show will be free to the public and informal, and will mark the last Cultural Center event of the year.

“Winter Light” festivities, supported by a Lake Region Arts Council cultural heritage grant and by members of the Cultural Center, will also be introduced. These events will be held Feb. 2, the day midway between the winter solstice and the vernal equinox.
