Polar plunge set to make a splash in Perham this weekend
Jump into some fun in Perham this Saturday with the Freezin' for a Reason Polar Plunge.
This year's annual event, a fundraiser for the local Kinship mentoring program, will begin at 1 p.m. at Zorbaz on Little Pine Lake. Watch groups of jumpers brace themselves before taking the big leap into the cold lake, or sign up to be a part of the event. Prizes will be awarded to the jumpers with the best costumes.
An on-ice bean bag tournament will follow the plunge, starting at 2 p.m. Kinship's director, Jill Shipman, said she's hoping to set a Guinness world record for the biggest bean bag tournament ever held on ice. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three ranking teams. The cost to participate is $30 per team; teams consist of two people.
Registration forms are available online at kinshipperham.com (follow the “forms” link). Registration for the jump starts at noon. Pledge sheets are available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Zorbaz will start their party specials at 11 a.m. Raffle tickets will be sold for a chance to watch the plunge from the warm comfort of an indoor window seat, or to win other prizes including $1,000 cash, an iPad, a snow blower and more.
