Perham Center for the Arts presents Neil Diamond Tribute Show
Far, you don't have to travel far, if you're a Neil Diamond fan to hear his classic hits because they're coming to Perham Friday October 6, when the Perham Center for the Arts hosts Simply Diamond, a Neil Diamond Tribute Show at the Perham High School auditorium.
Fran Johnson, chair of the board of directors, said she likes to get artists that were popular back in the day, and she feels that Neil Diamond was one of those that a lot of people listened to back then.
If you live close by you won't need to take a boat (unless you live on the other side of a lake and want to) or plane to get to the show, and you'll have the luxury of traveling light and hopefully not in the eye of a storm.
Simply Diamond was founded by Brian La Blanc, a singer, songwriter and musician from the New York area.
When asked how he got started impersonating Neil Diamond, Brian Le Blanc said he's not really sure.
"I would always impersonate Neil Diamond for some reason as just a gag. Then when Paul Shaffer, formerly of The David Letterman show, heard me do it he suggested that I start a Neil Diamond tribute band. I'm glad I listened."
His dream is taking him here, there and everywhere and now he's getting to see quite a bit of America.
Le Blanc said he enjoys playing Neil Diamond's music because the songs and arrangements are timeless.
Johnson said the tribute shows have become very popular, with over 500 attending the last show, a Johnny Cash Tribute concert.
