The Vergas Looneys Relay for Life team will present the second annual "A Christmas Gathering" concert and bake sale December 3, from 2-4 pm at the Vergas Event Center. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.
This year's performers include the Band of Faith. They are a group of musicians that come from throughout the area to get together weekly in Pelican Rapids. The brass and woodwind band is under the direction of Mike Nettestad.
Dr. Rand Stolee, general surgeon at the Perham Hospital, will be playing piano. As a physician in the area, Dr. Stolee has seen many of the people who have been diagnosed with cancer. Since moving to Perham from San Diego 25 years ago, he has been active in supporting Relay for Life.
The concert will also include the Frazee Hornet Singers. They are a group of singers in grades 10-12 who attend Frazee High School. This group of singers meet on Tuesday mornings at 7:45 a.m. before school to practice separate from their choir course. They enjoy performing for different events outside of the school day.
Along with the entertainment, there will be a bake sale, luminaries for sale to take to the 2018 relay and a chance to buy tickets to win a choice of two homemade items. These tickets will be available at the concert for a 88" x 149" quilt and a crocheted snowman family of five at the cost of $1 each. These items were made by ladies in the Vergas area and donated to the cancer fight. There will be refreshments available.
