Library Summer Reading Program kicks off June 23

The New York Mills Summer Reading Program kicks off Tuesday, June 23 with comic ventriloquist James Wedgewood appearing at 3:15 p.m. in the library meeting room.

Story Hour

The summer story hours will be held June 30, July 7, July 14, July 21 and July 28 at 3:15 p.m. in the library meeting room. Volunteers from the communtiy will read at the library every Tuesday.

Reading Challenge

Kids read 30 minutes a day at least five days a week and earn prizes. Those interested in the Reading Challenge should sign up at the library by June 25.

One Book-One Community

In celebration of the 125th Anniversary of New York Mills, the New York Mills Public Library invites everyone in the community to read the same book, "Song of Sampo Lake", about Finnish immigrants who homestead in Minnesota in the 1900's.

"One Book - One Community" will run now through July 3. On July 3, the library will meet with the author William Durbin. The program will be at noon on that day at the NY Mills Public Library.

"Song of Sampo Lake" is on sale now at the library for only $3 per book.

Annual Used Book Sale

The library's popular fundraiser, the Annual Used Book Sale, will be held July 29-30 at City Hall.

Board member needed

The library has an opening on its board of directors. Anyone interested in applying for the board should contact Julie at 385-2436.

Electronic overdue notices

Viking Library Systems is now offering a service where library patrons can receive overdue and pre-overdue notices via email. Anyone interested in signing up should contact the NYM library.
