Big and bright: Parade of Lights kicks off holiday season in Perham

Perham's 12th annual holiday Parade of Lights will be held this Friday.

Light up the start of your holiday season with Perham's 12th Annual Parade of Lights.

Diana Osterfeld, of the Perham Lions Festival Committee, said this year's parade will be as big and bright as parade's past.

Typically, dozens of floats entertain the more than 2,000 people who line the streets to watch.

Lights from the floats will illuminate downtown Perham, as all other city lights will be turned off during the event.

As is tradition, the parade will take place the day after Thanksgiving. On Friday, Nov. 23, beginning at 5:30 p.m., floats will travel from St. Paul's Church in southwest Perham, through downtown along Main Street.

A tree lighting ceremony will precede the parade, at NP Park (by the post office).

Float entries come from businesses, schools, community groups and churches from Perham and the surrounding area.

Following the parade, free chili will be served at Mulligan's as float winners are announced. Live music will be provided.

Float entries are still being accepted. For more information, call the Perham Chamber at 346-7710.
