Pair who hit boy with ATV and then took off will be charged, attorney says

FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- The Otter Tail County attorney’s office is still gathering information, but does plan to charge two people who were on an ATV that allegedly hit a 6-year-old boy from Dent in the Pelican Supper Club parking lot in Pelican Rapids last week and then took off without stopping.

Assistant County Attorney Ryan Cheshire said they were waiting for more medical information about the boy’s condition before filing charges against the ATV driver, a 23-year-old female from rural Pelican Rapids and her 22-year-old male passenger of Pelican Rapids. Their names have not been released.

“We will be charging them, but we don’t know at what level yet,” Cheshire said.

The county sheriff’s office tracked down the suspects in the March 15 hit-and-run, but also didn’t list their names in a press release last week.
