June Josephine Tretbar

June Josephine Tretbar, 74, of Osage, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga.

She was born May 21, 1934 to Albert and Nellie (Kropp) Terhark in Todd Township near Park Rapids. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Park Rapids and also taught Sunday school there. She attended school in Park Rapids and graduated with the class of 1952. She was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator for five years.

She married Lloyd Tretbar, of Ponsford, on May 21, 1957 in the pastor's parsonage in Detroit Lakes. They had three children. She helped with the bookkeeping and answered the phone for her husband and sons' business.

She was a member of TOPS Club in Park Rapids from 1971 until 1991 where she held many offices. She also was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ponsford, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She is survived by her husband; two sons: Kenneth (Brenda) and Mark, both of Osage; one daughter, Susan (Daniel) Potapenko of Burnsville; one brother, Keith (Virginia) Terhark of Rosemount; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Kenneth and Phillip; and a twin sister, Jane.

Funeral service: Friday, Jan. 9 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, with Pastor John M. Johannes officiating.

Casket bearers: Greg, Andy and Joe Tretbar, Dan Jr. and Stephen Potapenko and Josh Yliniemi.

Interment: St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Ponsford.
