Winifred "Wynn" C. Jenkins

Winifred "Wynn" C. Jenkins, 93, of Park Rapids, formerly of Albuquerque, N.M., died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.

She was born March 12, 1915 to Martin and Della Schneider in Pulaski Township, Iowa County, Wis. She graduated from Linden High School in Linden, Wis. She went on to attend La Crosse State Teachers College.

She married Bud Jenkins on Sept. 1, 1935 in Freeport, Ill. They had two daughters. They made their home in Horeb, Wis., where she and her husband worked at the Jenkins Meat Market. In 1951 they moved to Park Rapids.

She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Albuquerque, N.M. In 1965 they moved to Bismarck, N.D. where they operated a Volkswagen dealership and she worked as the bookkeeper until they retired. In 1987 they moved to Albuquerque, N.M. In October of 2002 she moved back to Park Rapids into Heritage Living Center.

She is survived by two daughters: Judy (Jim) Theisen, of Park Rapids, and Jeanne Hanson, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Bill Proudfoot; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Wilma Schneider; her husband in 1997; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Theisen; a sister, Bette Proudfoot; and a son-in-law, Wayne Hanson.

Memorial Mass: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9 at Heritage Living Center Chapel with Father Thomas Friedl officiating.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.

Interment: St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Cemetery.
