Richard "Dick" Eugene Sandberg
Richard "Dick" Eugene Sandberg, 70, of Menahga, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, N.D.
He was born May 22, 1938 to Richard and Bernice (Sende) Sandberg in Alexandria. He graduated from Menahga High School in 1957. He married Jeanette "Jan" Putz on June 6, 1959. They lived in Hastings for 29 years. He worked for Ecolab in St. Paul for 40 years, and traveled extensively for his work. He retired in December 1999. He was a member of the Osman Temple in St. Paul.
He is survived by his mother Bernice; his wife; three children: Tim, of Menahga, Sally (Aaron) Moen, of Hastings, and Lisa (Scott) Mahacek, of Hastings; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight sisters: Kathryn (Dwayne) Hamm, Janet (Ron) Bobzin, Sharon Farrill, Arlene (Dave) Kellogg, Patricia (Les) Anderson, Margaret (Waymon) Wilkerson, Maxine (Don) Steinke, and Camille (Gary) Ronnebaum; a brother, Douglas (Sharon); and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Honorary casket bearers: His grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Active casket bearers: Peter and Cory Steinke, Scott Sandberg, Seth Putz and Keith and Brian Triebold.
Funeral service: Saturday, Jan. 31 at Sebeka United Methodist Church with Pastor Loren Ferch officiating.
Interment: Menahga City Cemetery. Military honors provided by Berg Nylund American Legion Post 456, Sebeka.
