Perham history museum wins grant of nearly $150,000
The Friends of the History Museum of East Otter Tail County group was recently informed that the final funding bill of the Institute of Museum and Library Services includes an award to the History Museum in the amount of $143,449.
Representative Colin Peterson secured this grant to be used for the exhibits and equipment at the ITOW (In Their Own Words) Veterans Museum in Perham. The award will be used to help pay for improved sound equipment in the exhibit halls as well as new exhibits that tell the stories of area veterans and their communities.
"We're very grateful for Representative Peterson's support," said Lina Belar, Executive Director of the History Museum and designer of the ITOW exhibits. "There is still quite a bit of paperwork to be accomplished, but we look forward to beginning sometime this summer." Belar continues to develop ideas for new exhibits that help to tell the stories of area veterans. A preview of some of the new exhibits will be broadcast over LocalLINC on April 27 when the museum will hold its annual Telethon.
