Perham elementary principal to leave
Farmington Area Public Schools has announced the hiring of two new principals. including Kimberly Grengs, Pehram elementary school principal for the past three years.
Grengs returns to Farmington schools to be principal of the fifth elementary school.
"We had a tremendous pool of talented applicants for both of these positions," Superintendent Brad Meeks said. "I am excited for both MaLie and Kimberly to bring their unique skills and perspectives to Farmington as we continue to improve and grow as a school district."
Ms. Grengs has been principal of Heart of the Lakes/Dent Elementary School in Perham, Minn., for the past three years. Prior to taking that position, she had been a middle and elementary school teacher in Farmington for 13 years, having been named Farmington Teacher of the Year in 2004-05. Ms. Grengs' experience at Heart of the Lakes/Dent has included developing a math coach program, instituting the Character Counts Education program, and implementing the Literacy Collaborative model to challenge all students to improve reading, writing and language skills. The school was one of only eight in Minnesota to earn a Blue Ribbon Award in 2006 for high reading and math test scores. She holds a bachelor's degree from Augsburg College, a master's in education from St. Mary's University and earned her specialist degree and administrative license from Minnesota State Mankato.
"I look forward to returning to Farmington," Ms. Grengs said. "It is an excellent school district with dedicated staff. This is an incredible opportunity to collaborate with students, parents and staff for a successful transition to the fifth elementary school. I look forward to being part of that."
