'Harvest Auction' to help build home for New Creations Church

A Harvest Auction is planned for Sunday, August 24 to raise money for New Creation Lutheran Church's new building.

All proceeds will go toward raising the $190,000 down payment desired to break ground for the new church building.

The church voted May 28 to proceed with an estimated $800,000 building project, on land west of Pamida that was purchased from church member John Haverland.

"It is a very good location--close to the schools, so kids can get there for activities, and visible from Highway 10," said Janine Lang, a member of the church's Board of Spiritual Guidance.

The church home has been the Comet Theater for the past two years, with offices located across the street. The group has raised $15,000 toward the building project in about two months.

"We have a ways to go, but we're a faith-based group, and we are very aware of what we could do in terms of community outreach if we had a home," said Lang.

Church members took a road trip to Bertha to tour a recently built church there, and the proposed New Creations building will have similar features, she noted.

The August 24 auction will kick off with an 11 a.m. preview, with the auction beginning at 12 noon.

The auction will be held at the church property which borders the north side of Highway 10, west of Pamida, across from Prairie Wind Middle School. The address is 301 Coney Street, Perham; signs will be posted. Lunch will be available at the auction.

Tools, sporting goods, furniture, household items, handcrafted items, antiques, services, outdoor recreation deals, dinning packages, outdoor equipment, and other miscellaneous items will all be up for bid.

Some of the featured items include a new Husqvarna lawn mower, paddle boat, wood hutch, Kitchen Aid mixer, queen size quilt, 8' sofa and matching loveseat, one week at Sunset Bay Resort, airplane ride for up to 3 people, German dinner for 6, pie a month for a year- delivered, new grill/smoker, 8 vouchers for Twins games, and 5 10-gallon certificates for gasoline.

This is a Thrivent sponsored event by New Creation Chapter #24609.
