Adult forum on Islamic faith to be presented at Calvary Lutheran Church

Dr. Ahmed Kamel will speak to an adult forum at 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 2, in the Calvary Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. He will speak about the religion of Islam. Dr. Kamel is an associate professor of computer science at Concordia College.

He grew up in Egypt and got his college education at Cairo University. He and his family are active at the local mosque in Fargo-Moorhead. Dr. Kamel is a member of the Fargo Moorhead Abrahamic Interfaith Group and has been an organizer of several events to foster inter-religious understanding in the Fargo Moorhead area.

Dr. Kamel regularly participates in community forums explaining the religion of Islam. He is also a liaison between the Islamic Society of Fargo/Moorhead and area jails in order to arrange for religious services for Muslim inmates.

Beginning on November 5, Pastor Phil Holtan will lead three sessions on Understanding Islam and our Relationships to other Religious Faiths, Wednesday nights, at 7 p.m. in the Matthias Room at Calvary Lutheran Church.
