Otter Dazzle pageant, parade planning in full swing for holidays

Kicking off the holiday season in Ottertail will be the annual Otter Dazzle pageant for boys and girls ages 4 - 9.

Judging this year's competition will be area young adult pageant winners. At a Nov. 11 meeting, pageant organizer Kathy Wagenman reported that both Miss Henning and Miss Battle Lake had been confirmed as judges for the event. Other local royalty may also join the judging panel.

This year's pageant is scheduled for Nov. 22 at Thumper Pond Club House. The judging will start at 1 p.m., with the pageant at 2:30.

Otter Dazzle Dec. 6

Planners are also gearing up for the city's Otter Dazzle parade and other community festivities. The Dec. 6 event will start with the Lions pancake feed, from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the community center.

Other special events include turkey bowling, sleigh rides, a dazzle walk, and free pictures with Santa Claus. A "dazzler hunt" is also planned, with clues given at the community center. The winner will receive $200 in Otter Bucks.

Line-up for the parade is at 4:30 p.m., beside Eckhoff's Village Inn. The parade will start at 5:00 p.m. Fireworks will light the winter skies after the parade.

Help out your neighbors

Another way to spread the holiday cheer is through helping others in the community. A community food, hat, and mitten drive is planned from Nov. 22 through Dec. 12.

All items may be dropped off at the Ottertail Home Center in downtown Ottertail.

As a part of the Otter Dazzle events on Dec. 6, there will be a spaghetti feed at 6 p.m. at the community center. The meal is a free will donation, with donations going to community families to help them with the holidays.
