Your chance to 'take the stage'

Was one of your New Year's goals to try something new during the next year?

If so, consider joining other adults in the community for a Monday night acting class. This workshop is an activity based acting-learning-performing workshop for interested adults in the Perham area.

Improvisation, acting fundamentals, and theater games will be the emphasis. Also, theater language and audition skills will be discussed and learned.

"We are reaching out to the general community to explore their creative side and learn, act and develop their performance potential," said instructor Ert Jones-Hermerding. "More importantly, it will be fun and something unusual for interested people in these tough times. People will be "doing something positive" for themselves."

Jones-Hermerding, a retired Twin Cities metro area educator, has directed two productions in Perham--including the recent community theater production of "Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

The class will not perform for the public. Anyone who is curious about acting on stage and wants to try it in a safe, fun learning environment is encouraged to sign up. It will be enjoyable, interesting and a growth experience for all.

The sessions will be an hour and 1/2 and will take place at the Perham auditorium stage. They will start at 7 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m.

Six sessions are scheduled, for the following Mondays: Jan. 19, 26; Feb. 2, 9, 23; and Tuesday, Feb. 17.

All experience levels are welcome, especially people who are wanting to find out more about the "art" of performing on stage.

Bring yourself, a bottle of water, dress for comfort, and expect a good time.
