NY Mills senior earns 1st place at state BPA competition
Two New York Mills High School students placed high enough at the State BPA Convention to qualify for national competition.
The State BPA Convention was held March 13-14 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis. The New York Mills chapter did a fabulous job and had two students qualify for nationals: senior Olivia Hendrickx placed first in Payroll Accounting, and freshman Nick LeTourneau was fourth in Computer Security. Sophomore Anthony Hendrickx was one place away from qualifying for nationals and placed 6th in Banking & Financing.
Olivia Hendrickx will attend the national competition May 6-20 in Dallas, Texas. She placed first in Fundamental Accounting at nationals last year in Reno, Nevada.
Congratulations also goes out to Olivia for receiving the only BPA scholarship in the state of Minnesota. She was selected out of 70 other Minnesota BPA chapters. Olivia also received a Torch Award at State BPA for which students are eligible if they receive enough points in the following seven categories: leadership, service, cooperation, knowledge, friendship, love, hope, faith, and patriotism.
