OTC won Section 8AA and advanced to State. 2008 Sections: New York Mills was the No. 6 seed in the 6A South Sub-Section Tournament. They beat No. 3 Ashby in the 1st round, 8-4. The Eagles were knocked out in the second round with a 8-3 loss to No. 7 Parkers Prairie.

The south's No. 1 seed, Verndale, beat the North's No. 1, Hawley, in the 6A Championship game. Verndale lost a pair of 1-0 games at State. New Life Academy beat Maple Lake for the State Class A title. Wabasso beat Littlefork-Big Falls in the 3rd Place game.

2009 Seniors: Stephanie Cichy, Kim Becker, Kristen Perala, Morgan Kahilainen.

Get to Know'em: Juniors: Kendra McCall, Nicole Nebosis, Rae Anna Salo, Sam Welter.

Strengths: The Eagles had just one senior on last year's squad, giving them a very experienced team this spring. Cichy was 7-6 in the pitching circle last year. McCall was 3-4.

Season Outlook: OTC will be tough to beat again this year after an undefeated record in the PRC last year and a run to the Class AA State Tournament. Verndale went to State in Class A and will give OTC a run.

Verndale and Brandon-Evansville should be top teams in the 6A South Sub-Section. Hawley and Menahga will be among the north's top teams.
