Memory blocks for loved ones available through 'Angel of Hope'

The Angel of Hope Memorial Park is a place of beauty, peace, and healing for anyone who has lost a child. It doesn't matter how old the child was, or when the child died.

New memory blocks are added at the park in the spring and fall. Each block is three lines, approximately 24 characters on each line.

If you know of anyone who might want to remember their child at the park, or anyone who might want to donate a bench, please contact Brenda Thompson at 218-758-3083 or Kathy Johnson at 218-346-1155.

The Angel of Hope Memorial Park spring memory block order deadline is May 1, 2009.

The cost for a memory block is $150. The park brochures, which contain the order form for the memory blocks, are available at The Pines gift shop and the Chamber of Commerce office.

The blocks will be engraved around Memorial Day, hopefully before, weather permitting.

The park's first project this spring is two benches on the south side of the memory walls. The north sides of the walls are full, and blocks are now being placed on the south sides, so seating should be available there as well.

The cost of a bench is approximately $500. More than one family could team up to donate in memory of a loved one. The bench could be in memory of any member of a family, not just a child.

The park committee is always looking for volunteers, including people interested in helping with cleaning up the flower beds this spring. If gardening is something you enjoy, and you want to help, give Brenda or Kathy a call. They usually try to schedule a work day in the park in the spring and the fall.

The annual Walleye Wayne Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 16. Proceeds from the tournament go toward future projects and upkeep of the park. Contact Perham Lakeside Golf Course to sign up for the tournament.
