PHS Girls Golf Spring Preview 2009

2008 Season: The Perham girls won their 3rd straight Heart O' Lakes title last spring. Pelican Rapids finished 2nd, followed by Barnesville/Rothsay.

2008 Sections: The Lady Jackets finished 6th at the 8AA Sub-Section Meet at Wildflower G.C., then finished fourth at the Section 8AA Meet a week later. No Perham girls advanced to State. Detroit Lakes won the 8AA team title and finished third at the State Class AA Meet. Minnewaska won the Class AA State Championship. They had won the previous two Class A State titles. Last year was the first season of a three class system in golf.

2009 Seniors: Leah Richter- (2008 All-Conference), Abby Huebsch (2008 All-Conference).

Get to Know'em: Holly Karkela (2008 All-Conference, 2007 State participant), Kaylan Huber (2008 All-Conference).

Strengths: Perham will have good depth this season with eight solid varsity golfers. They should be competitive in the HOL, sub-section and section.

Season Outlook: Pelican Rapids, the 2008 HOL runner-up, will be strong in the conference again this year. Detroit Lakes, East Grand Forks, Fergus Falls, Crookston and Roseau will be competitive in Section 8AA.
