Perham head coach Hans Hanson's quest for 200 wins was postponed by a few days, but he knew it would come eventually.

Hanson's career record was 199-60 after his Yellowjackets beat Upsala/Swanville on April 20. Perham was scheduled to host Fergus Falls last Friday, but that game was postponed due to weather. It will be played in Peham on May 4 at 4 p.m.

That left Hanson waiting until Tuesday when Perham took on Park Rapids in a Mid-State Conference doubleheader at Krueger Field.

Things got off to a rocky start in game one, but Hanson won his 200th, and 201st as Perham swept the Panthers, 4-2 and 3-0.

"It's exciting," Hanson said of reaching the 200-win milestone. "It's nice to get it in a good game against a quality team like Park Rapids."

Perham starter Taylor Doll had a rough start to game one. He hit three batters, allowed one walk and gave up one hit as Park Rapids got out to a 2-0 lead.

The Jackets got both runs back in the bottom of the first. Nate Schmitz drove in Shane Miller for the first run. Anthony Ruther scored the second on a Ben Bucholz ground out.

Two more scored for Perham in the bottom of the second. Tyler Lynne scored on an error and Miller drove in Ben Omberg to put the Jackets up, 4-2.

That's all Doll would need, as he settled in for the complete game victory. He scattered eight more hits and one walk over the final six innings.

It Doll's second win of the season. It was Hanson's 200th.

"You obviously don't get to this point without a lot of good players," Hanson said. "This team has a bunch of great players. They are a good group to be around. They know their baseball and know how to have fun.

"Look at today," Hanson continued. "We had clutch at bats in key spots and we had 13 scoreless innings pitched against a good Park Rapids team. We're really playing well right now. We're starting to gel."

Schmitz pitched five shutout innings and Brad Ellingson was solid for the save as Perham won game two, 3-0.

The Jackets scored all three runs in the fifth inning. Bucholz drove in Ruther for the first run. Schmitz scored on a RBI double by Lynne, and Shawn Stafke drew a bases loaded walk to make it 3-0

The Jackets have now won eight of their last nine games against Park Rapids. The two teams did not play last year because of two rainouts.

Perham will hit the road Friday, May 1 for a pair of games against the W-DC Wolverines. The Jackets have won 18 in a row over Wadena-Deer Creek, including a 16-1 victory in last year's 8AA playoffs. The Wolverines last win came in a doubleheader split on May 8, 2001.

The Yellowjackets will play Fergus Falls on May 4. Perham also ended the Otters season last year with a 5-2 win in the second round of the 8AA playoffs.

Pequot Lakes will be at Krueger Field for a Mid-State doubleheader on May 5. Perham has won seven-straight against the Patriots. The first game will start at 4 p.m.
