Drowning confirmed in Little Pine death

By Louis Hoglund

"Safety around the water is important..."

That was the message from Otter Tail County Coroner Dr. Greg Smith, following the June 12 drowning on Little Pine Lake.

The coroner's report indicated that the victim, Scott Patrick Robinson, 40, was working on his dock--probably Friday morning.

"He appears to have fallen, and subsequently drowned," said Smith.

Robertson's body floated, apparently visually obscured by the dock, for several hours before being discovered early evening.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office report states that Robertson was found unresponsive near a dock on Little Pine Lake about 7 p.m., Friday night, June 12.

It is the second drowning that Smith has handled this year. It was somewhat unusual that the drowning was in shallow water, said Smith, "but it doesn't take a lot of water to drown."

"We usually see at least a couple of drownings every season," said Smith. "Safety around the water is very important."

In Robertson's case, he was evidently working out on the dock alone, which is why the accident wasn't discovered until later.

Funeral services for Scott Patrick Robertson were June 16 at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Perham, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Ottertail.

Robertson was born April 9, 1969, at St. Francis Medical Center in Breckenridge, MN. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Breckenridge through the eighth grade and was a 1987 graduate of Breckenridge High School. Scott held an Associate of Arts degree from the ND State School of Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Moorhead State University.

Scott is survived by his parents, Keith and Martha Robertson; brother, Paul (Janell) Robertson; sisters, Anita (Chris) Anderson and Gail Robertson; nephews, Luke, Jason, and Eric Anderson and Michael Robertson; niece, Jessica Lom; special friend and companion, Tara Giese; and many close friends and extended family members.

Schoeneberger Funeral Home, Perham, MN, is in charge of the arrangements. (218) 346-5175.
