Frozen Fest: Schedule is full of activities

The "Frozen Fest" schedule has become a full slate, with numerous businesses and organizations involved in the promotion.

The centerpiece of the "Frozen Weekend" slate of events is Kinship's "Freezin' for a Reason," where participants will be taking an icy bath in Little Pine Lake-as a fundraiser for the youth mentoring program.

Registration for the plunge will begin at 11 a.m., with jumps beginning on the lake near Zorbaz at 1 p.m.

Lakes Lions celebrate "Mardis Gras" Feb. 5

Entertainment for the weekend is launched by the Lakes Lions Mardis Gras night, at Mulligan's, on Friday. Social hour is 6-7 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.

There will be a meat raffle, gift basket raffle, silent auction and entertainment by "Notified, " a quartet of Barbershop singers from the East Otter Tail area.

Honored for the evening will be longtime Perham Jewelry owner Dale Wright, who will be presented with the "Distinguished Service" award.

With the $25 ticket, there are numerous door prizes including a chance at two half hogs that will be given away-and $500 cash.

Hoot's hosts "Super Fish Bowl" boat show

The Hoot's Boat Show is another business promotion hosted in conjunction with Perham's "Frozen Fest."

The show starts Thursday, and continues through Saturday. Pizza and pop will be served on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A "Super Fish Bowl" promotion gives participants a chance at four prizes: A sunfish art print; Lund sweatshirt, electric fillet knife and a guided fishing trip. Participants can enter online at jimarno@hootssports

First annual "Frozen Fest" ice fishing contest

A family fishing tournament will round out the "Frozen Fest" schedule in Perham for Saturday, Feb. 6. Hosting the contest is the Perham Sportsman's Club.

Registration will start at 8 a.m., and the contest will be from 9 a.m. - noon on Little Pine Lake. For anglers age 12 and under, the cost is $5 per hole. "Freeze Your Face Run" launches at PACC

A 5 kilometer run, headquartered at the Perham Area Community Center will benefit the Perham Yellowjacket cross country team. Registration for the "Freeze Your Face" run is at 8 a.m., with the race starting at 9 a.m.

The race starts behind the PACC and goes through the streets of Perham, finishing at back of the north entrance to the PACC.

Sponsors of the race are Mulligan's, Long Weekend, and Team Electronic.

Frozen runners will be treated at the end of the run, with caramel rolls at the finish line for all participants. For information, call Angie at 218-298-0806.

Jazz concert to chase away blues at Vets Museum

Ministry of Jazz returns to the ITOW Veterans Museum on Saturday, Feb. 6, with a concert of Dixieland Music guaranteed to lift your spirits and banish the wintertime blues. 

The group features some of the best jazz musicians in the area. They perform weekly for conventions, dinner parties, holiday parties, and wedding dances.

The concert begins at 8 p.m., following the annual banquet of the Friends of the History Museum of East Otter Tail County.  Tickets for the concert are available at the door for $12.
