Perham NHS reaches out to community

Perham National Honor Society members collect garbage along State Highway 10.

For the Perham High School National Honor Society Chapter, the weekends in October have been the perfect time to reach out to the community.

On October 2, the students involved in NHS got together to pick up garbage along State Highway 10. Perham Schools took on this highway through the "Adopt a Highway" project. For several years Perham NHS members have been a part of the project, and the current NHS students did not want to end the tradition.

In two hours, three teams of four to five students walked in the ditches picking up every piece of garbage in their path. In the short time period, 15 bags of garbage were collected. After the work was completed, the students enjoyed special treats from The Wild Goose in Perham.

The Perham High School National Honor Society Chapter will be inducting the class of 2012 members on November 8 at Perham High School.
