Kolness turns down Perham-Dent superintendent position

Mike Kolness has turned down the superintendent position at Perham-Dent Public Schools.

The school board offered Kolness, Ada-Borup principal/superintendent, the position this week, at which time he said he would respond within a week.

Kolness cited his family as the main reason behind his decision, said Superintendent Tamara Uselman.

Kolness was chosen from a group of five final candidates. The board will now reconvene at its regularly scheduled board meeting on Wednesday, April 20 to decide on a plan of action.

"They have a lot of really good alternatives," Uselman said.

The four remaining candidates include Mark Matuska of Waverly, Minn., David Kuehn of Waconia, Minn., Edwin Richardson of Yuma, Ariz. and Allen Hoffman of Comfrey, Minn.
