Otter Tail County sees increase in abortions

While the state saw a 7 percent drop in abortions from 2009 to 2010, Otter Tail County saw an increase, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Otter Tail County residents contriubted to 10 of the state's 11,505 abortions in 2010. In 2009, the number was between zero and five.

According to the report, around 7,000 of the abortions were performed by gynecologists and obstetrics, while nearly 4,000 were performed by general family practice doctors.

Statistics also show that the majority of abortions in the state were performed on women who were between the ages of 20-24, with 3,921 in that category, followed by 2,898 for women 25-29.
