Suspect sought in pepper-spray robbery at Ottertail hotel

Otter Tail County authorities are searching for a man who robbed the Thumper Pond Hotel in Ottertail early this morning after he sprayed an employee in the face with pepper spray.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office:

The incident happened about 4:30 a.m. when a man armed with a wooden handle about two feet long jumped over a counter and sprayed a female clerk in the face with pepper spray.

The man then forced the clerk to turn over money from a cash register as well as business safety boxes.

The robber left after putting the clerk in a closet.

The clerk later received first aid from emergency response workers from Henning, Minn.

The suspect was described as 5'10" to 6' tall, 20-30 years of age and wearing camouflage cargo pants along with a gray/blue hooded sweatshirt.

He was also wearing dark gloves, a ski mask around his nose and mouth and sunglasses with green frames.
