Luella Seaberg

Luella I. Seaberg, 96, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday January 3, 2008 at her residence.

Luella I. Pearson was born to Henry and Caroline (Halvorson) Pearson on Nov. 14, 1911 in Detroit Lakes. She grew up and attended District 7 Country School in Richwood Township, then attended and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. After graduating high school, she attended Normal School, where she earned a teaching certificate. Luella taught Country School for five years.

On Dec. 27, 1934, Luella married Roy O. Seaberg in Detroit Lakes. They made their home and farmed in Hamden Township for the next 35 years. In 1964, they moved to Aberdeen, S.D., where Roy worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife survey crew. In 1971, they moved back to Detroit Lakes. Luella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Rachel Circle. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving Luella are her two sons, Val (Lorraine) Seaberg and Dave (Yvonne) Seaberg, both of Detroit Lakes; two daughters, Sonia Anderson of Detroit Lakes and Kathy (Earl) Dennert of Aberdeen, S.D.; 22 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Lorraine Seaberg of Detroit Lakes.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Roy (Jan. 24, 1991); one son, Lee "Bud" Seaberg; one grandson, Kent Seaberg; and three brothers, Norman Pearson, Robert Pearson and Swante Collman.

Visitation is set to take place from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Dan Babine officiating.

Casket bearers will be Russell Seaberg, Lowell Seaberg, Stan Seaberg, Steve Seaberg, Shane Seaberg, Jon Seaberg, Terry Seaberg, Todd Seaberg, Jim Anderson and Jason Sperle.

Burial will be in Upsala Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes.
