Delores H. Ohman, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at St. Mary's Nursing Center, Detroit Lakes, under the care of Hospice of The Red River Valley.
Delores H. Kaatz was born to Ernest and Maggie (Hall) Kaatz on Sept. 20, 1928 in Detroit Lakes. She grew up in rural Audubon, and attended country school there. She then worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone in Detroit Lakes. On Sept. 21, 1947 she married Clifford Ohman in Audubon. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, where she worked for Bunnell's as a waitress for 16 years, and also worked as a cook at Holmes Junior High School. In addition, she worked as a switchboard operator at the Greystone Hotel, and at Mahube with the in-home volunteer program.
Delores was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards and being at the lake. She also enjoyed her extra special times with her granddaughter, Amanda.
Surviving Delores are her four daughters, Pamela Ellsworth of Detroit Lakes, Cynthia (Jerry) DeWitt of Park River, N.D., Debra (David) Lausch of Moorhead and Tamara (Jay) Wothe of Frazee; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; one brother, Raymond Kaatz of Detroit Lakes; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Clifford (March 5, 1975); four sisters, Evelyn Jordahl, Margaret VanLaanen, Viola Kohler and Orlene Sunstrom; two brothers, Vernon and Alby Kaatz; and a son-in-law, David Ellsworth.
Visitation was to take place from 4-7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10 at Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Dan C. Abrahams officiating.
Casket bearers are Nick Williams, Derek Lausch, Brian DeWitt, Kyle DeWitt, Dennis Lachowitzer and David Greminger, Jr. Honorary casket bearers will be Dawn Greminger, Amanda Wothe and Maggie Wothe. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Audubon.
