2 injured when roadster motorcycle rolls near Detroit Lakes

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Two people were injured in a collision that caused a rollover on Highway 34 about five miles out of town Friday evening.

Ida Engel, 56, and Beverly Lusty, 58, both of Detroit Lakes, were traveling westbound on Highway 34 when their roadster motorcycle was clipped by a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The bike then rolled into the north ditch throwing its occupants to the ground.

The driver of the Jeep told the Minnesota State Patrol that she lost control of the vehicle and veered into the opposing lane.

Engel and Lusty suffered serious injuries from the rollover, according to the Minnesota State Patrol report. They were both transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Detroit Lakes.
