Speed contributes to crashes throughout area, including fatal on I-94 near Alexandria

MOORHEAD – Drivers going too fast on slick roads Friday contributed to many crashes throughout the area including one fatal crash near Alexandria on Interstate 94.

Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow said there were 26 crashes on Friday throughout the patrol’s district in west-central and northwest Minnesota.

Of the 26 crashes, 20 were rollovers and two caused injuries, including a rollover near Glyndon on Highway 10.

Hannah Spiesz, a 16-year-old from Dilworth, was injured when she was heading west on Highway 10, lost control of her car and rolled.

The patrol said Spiesz was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Grabow took to Twitter throughout Friday to plead with drivers to slow down.

The fatal crash occurred on I-94 near mile marker 102 just outside of Alexandria when an eastbound pickup rolled. The patrol has released details of the crash or the victim’s identity.
