Child recovering after near-drowning incident in Hawley

HAWLEY, Minn. – A 10-month-old boy from this western Minnesota city is recovering in a Fargo hospital after nearly drowning in a bathtub early Saturday.

Police responded to a call from an apartment building on 7th Street in Hawley, where a resident said they’d found their baby submerged in a bathtub. The resident had been running bathwater for the child when they briefly left the room to make coffee.

When the resident returned to the bathroom, they said they found the baby face down in the tub.

Police were able to revive the boy and he was breathing when he was taken by air ambulance to Sanford Health.

Hawley police continue to investigate the incident. They are not releasing names or a specific address at this time.
