Detroit Lakes man killed in crash

Marie Johnson A rural Detroit Lakes man died in a one-car rollover on Friday. Ronald Gene Gillund, age 69, was ejected from his vehicle and pronounced dead en route to the emergency room, according to a press release from the Becker County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office received a call about the rollover at about 8 p.m. The release states that Gillund’s vehicle was southbound on St. Mary of the Lakes Road, about 1.5 miles south of County Road 22, when it went into the ditch, hit a mailbox, came back up on the roadway and then lost control and went back into the ditch, rolling several times. There were no passengers in the vehicle. The accident remains under investigation by the Becker County Sheriff’s Department and Minnesota State Patrol.
