Semi crash near Alexandria closes I-94
About 5:09 a.m. Friday morning a semi traveling westbound on I-94 near Evansville rear ended another semi and jackknifed. The crash blocked both east and westbound lanes of I-94, according to Minnesota State Patrol. The driver of the jackknifed semi was taken to Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria. Another semi traveling westbound crossed the median and rolled trying to avoid the crash scene. The rollover blocked eastbound I-94 traffic. The driver of that semi, Steven Thordarson, 59, of Casselton, North Dakota, was taken to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls.
Eastbound I-94 traffic reopened around 7:30 a.m. and westbound traffic reopened about 8 a.m.
Minnesota State Patrol, Evansville firefighters and Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. State Patrol continues its investigation.
