Canadian couple hurt in Otter Tail County crash

PERHAM, Minn. - A married couple from Canada were injured in a broadside-type accident today between Perham and New York Mills in Otter Tail County, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Inge Pechous and her husband, Zdenek Pechous, both 70 and from Elliot Lake, Ontario, were taken to the Perham hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

According to a news release from the patrol, Inge Pechous was driving a 1998 Ford van eastbound on U.S. Highway 10 at about 10:31 a.m. when it broadsided a 1997 Ford pickup going south on County Road 53. The van entered the ditch and overturned.

The pickup's driver, 23-year-old Eric Weller of Perham, wasn't hurt.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office and police from Perham and New York Mills also responded to the crash.
