Tractors destroyed in rural Pelican Rapids fire
Sheriff deputies reported that five John Deere tractors were destroyed Dec. 31 in a fire on the north side of Prairie Lake, north of Pelican Rapids.
The location was close to 450th Street and the time of the fire was 11:41 a.m.
"Our office and first responders received a report of a shed on fire. The owner had a tractor block heater plugged in and when he went outside to start a tractor he noticed flames," said County Sheriff Administrative Lt. Keith Van Dyke.
Attempts to get other tractors out of the shed were unsuccessful and the fire consumed the shed.
Also lost in the blaze were a Vermeer Bale Processor Hitachi Mini-Excavator as well as other farm equipment.
"The total loss in dollar amounts was not immediately known," said Van Dyke.
Extinguishing the fire were members of the Pelican Rapids and Vergas fire departments.
Snowmobiles stolen south of New York Mills
At least seven vintage snowmobiles were stolen in the evening hours of Dec. 29 or in the early-morning hours of Dec. 30 near 330th Street, south of New York Mills.
"The items were stored outside at the property," said County Sheriff Administrative Lt. Keith Van Dyke.
Total value of the snowmobiles, as well as stolen front fenders for 1970s Chevrolet trucks, was estimated at $2,975.
Vintage snowmobiles reported missing included a 1976 John Deere Cyclone, 1967 Ski Doo Alpine, 1970 Ski Doo Olympic, 1967 Larson Falcon, 1967 Larson Hawk, 1966 Larson Eagle and 1968 Evinrude.
Perham area theft reported
A theft took place south of Perham on Highway 78 at a dock and lift company, with items reported missing on Jan. 2.
Missing items included vinyl dock decking and several power boat lift devices. Total value was not immediately known.
I-94 accident injures one
One person was injured in a traffic accident while driving on Interstate 94 in southwestern Otter Tail County at 6:16 a.m. on Jan. 3.
The State Highway Patrol said a Ford Ranger was westbound when the driver lost control on an icy bridge deck, spun onto the right shoulder and rolled the vehicle, a 1999 Ford Ranger.
Taken to Lake Region Healthcare, Fergus Falls, with non-life threatening injuries was 53-year-old William Bruce Justice of Jamestown, N.D.
Burglary arrest made north of Pelican Rapids
A woman was arrested near Tamarac Lake, north of Pelican Rapids, on Jan. 4 and charged with third degree burglary.
Taken into custody was Kim Marie Blauert, 51, of Hawley. The arrest took place at 6:25 p.m., according to county sheriff deputies.
Thefts reported near Mills and Rush Lake
Sheriff deputies said a LP tank was taken from a fish house on the east side of Big Pine Lake, northwest of New York Mills.
The tank was later recovered on Jan. 4. The fish house is located not far from Highway 53.
Arrested in conjunction with the theft was a man whose address was listed by sheriff deputies as Hamel, Minn., near the Twin Cities.
In another incident, a trailer was reported as missing from the west side of Rush Lake on Jan. 4. Rush Lake is located north of Ottertail City.
The incident took place at Rush Lake Loop. There are possible suspects, according to sheriff deputies.
