Two arrested in Moorhead break-ins, assault

MOORHEAD -- Two men were arrested in south Moorhead this morning after trying to break into several cars in an apartment building's parking lot and assaulting a person in the building.

Troy White Owl, 21, and Randy White Owl, 20, both of Fargo, are being held at the Clay County Jail on several misdemeanor charges.

Officers were called to 520 32nd Ave. S., Moorhead, at about 12:56 a.m. Accord-ing to Moorhead Police Sgt. Mike Detloff, two men were seen attempting to enter vehicles in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they learned the men had entered someone's apartment. The resident ordered them to leave. The suspects also assaulted another person in that building.

Officers found one of the suspects in the parking lot. The other suspect was in the apartment building and fought with the officers, Detloff said.

According to jail records, Randy White Owl was being held for minor in consumption, tampering with motor vehicles, obstructing legal process, fifth degree assault and trespassing. Troy White Owl was being held on charges of trespassing and vehicle tampering.

Detloff said the police department had been get-ting several reports of car break-ins in the area. They are investigating to see if the incidents are related and if Randy or Troy White Owl are responsible.

Detloff said he believes the two men are cousins.
