New York Mills Police Report, July 24-30

July 24

1:33 a.m. Took a report of a possible prowler outside of a local residence. Upon searching the area, officers found no sign of a prowler.

11:23 p.m. A cellular phone was turned in to the police department. The owner was notified and claimed the phone.

12:23 p.m. Assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their car.

2:03 p.m. Assisted EMS with a medical call in the county.

2:30 p.m. Cited a motorist for speeding.

2:48 p.m. Responded to a medical call with EMS. As a result, officers transported a person to detox.

3:55 p.m. Warned a motorist for inattentive driving and crossing the center line. The driver had dropped their dentures and was trying to retrieve them without pulling over.

5:59 p.m. Warned a motorist for speeding.

6:45 p.m. Assisted with a civil matter involving work done on a watercraft.

July 25

11:55 a.m. Assisted a resident who was having electrical problems in their house. A professional electrician was contacted to resolve the problem.

2:31 p.m. Removed a car-killed rabbit from the road.

5:35 p.m. Warned a motorist for failing to stop at a stop sign.

11:25 p.m. Took a report of two people going through storage lockers at a local apartment complex. The people were identified and were just getting things from their own locker.

July 26

12:28 a.m. Took a report of a person bit by a bat. The person was treated and released from the hospital.

3:07 a.m. Assisted the Perham Police Department with a medical escort.

7:06 a.m. Took a report of a suspicious vehicle parked inside the fence at Smith Park. The people were identified as baseball players waiting to use the baseball diamond.

2:32 p.m. Took a report from a local business of a check that had been written to them on a closed account. A felony theft-by-check complaint is pending with the Otter Tail County Attorney.

2:57 p.m. Took a report of some prescription medication missing from an apartment.

11:50 p.m. Took a report of a person being harassed via text messaging.

July 27

7:39 a.m. Took a report of a possible intoxicated driver. The vehicle was located and the driver was sober. A passenger in the vehicle appeared to be intoxicated.

11:06 a.m. Took a report of a damaged curb. Notified public works.

11:35 a.m. Took a barking dog complaint. The owner was warned.

11:58 a.m. Took a report of a vehicle colliding with a parked vehicle. The driver of the subject vehicle denied the collision, but was issued a citation for improper parking and parking in a yellow zone.

3:14 p.m. Received a request for a welfare check on resident of the county. The Sheriff's office was notified and a deputy checked on the person, who was found to be OK.

7:32 p.m. Assisted a camper in setting up in Smith Park.

8:02 p.m. Notified railroad of stop arms stuck in down position at Main Avenue crossing. The railroad promptly fixed the problem.

July 28

4:17 p.m. Assisted the Sheriff's Office with a child custody matter.

4:52 p.m. Took a report of a vehicle passing in an unsafe location and nearly causing a collision. The vehicle was located and the driver was warned.

July 30

6:04 a.m. Took a report of a man wandering around town in pajamas who appeared to be disoriented. The man was located and was OK. He had accidently locked himself out of his house.

10:32 p.m. Conducted a welfare check on a couple that was thought to be arguing. Upon officer arrival, all was found to be OK.
