Sebeka man caught in standoff

A rural Sebeka man is in custody after taking part in an hour-long standoff with law enforcement Nov. 26, according to a report from the Wadena County Sheriff's Office.

It all began when deputies responded to an armed domestic disturbance call at around 11:45 p.m. The suspect, George Pajari, threatened them with a gun and refused to surrender, as his two family members remained in the house with him. One family member managed to escape, and the other hid in the house while the standoff took place.

Pajari eventually handed his weapon over to police, and was taken into custody without further incident and with no serious injuries to any of the people involved. As of Nov. 29, Pajari was in the Wadena County Jail with formal felony charges from the Wadena County Attorney's Office.

The sheriff's deputies were assisted by the Wadena/Hubbard County SWAT team, police departments from Sebeka, Menahga, Verndale and Wadena, the Minnesota State Patrol and Tri-County Ambulance.
