Two arrested in Kelliher bank robbery

BEMIDJI - Two suspects have been arrested in connection with Monday's robbery at a Kelliher bank.

Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp reported Wednesday evening that investigators have arrested two white Bemidji men. He declined to name the suspects at this point as the investigation is still ongoing.

The suspects currently are being held in the Beltrami County Jail, according to a news release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.

At 2:27 p.m. Monday, a suspect brandished a shotgun at an employee at the First State Bank of Bigfork in Kelliher. The suspect, who stole an undisclosed amount of money, was working in tandem with a driver, according to earlier reports.

The suspect wore a white one-piece Tyvek coverall, black tennis shoes, black gloves with rubber grips and white writing, and a white plastic mask believed to be the same featured in the 1978 horror movie "Halloween." The suspect was carrying a large black bag, according to the release. The suspect left the bank on foot heading east.

Hodapp said he was "very proud" of the work his investigators have done on the case.

"These guys have been working their tails off now for three days," he said. "We also received exceptional help from the BCA and FBI."

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and FBI have been assisting the sheriff's office along with numerous other agencies.
