Beltrami County burglary suspects in custody
BEMIDJI -- Two suspects in seven burglaries in Beltrami County have been taken into custody.
According to the press release:
Homeowners on the 35700 block of Arnson Creek Road Northeast in Quiring Township arrived home on Aug. 22 to find a Ford Escape with Red Lake license plates parked alongside their house. The owner of the house gave pursuit as the vehicle headed north to the Red Lake Indian Reservation, where it was stopped by Red Lake law enforcement officials.
Two suspects, both from Red Lake, were taken into custody. One was turned over the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office since he is not an enrolled member of the Red Lake tribe.
Several guns and electronic devices were taken in the burglary, but were recovered from the vehicle after the traffic stop.
With the assistance of the Red Lake Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office investigation determined that both suspects participated in seven burglaries in northern Beltrami County resulting in the recovery of eight firearms and other items.
A formal complaint request has been sent to the Beltrami County Attorney's Office for possible charges.
