NY Mills Police Report

Sept. 24

2:54 p.m. A cellular phone was turned in to the police department. It was returned to its owner.

3:30 p.m. Took a report of a vehicle driving fast through a residential area. The vehicle was located and the driver was advised of the complaint.

Sept. 25

1:50 a.m. Assisted a motorist who had broken down on Highway 10.

10:36 a.m. Took a report of a dog getting loose from its owner. The owner later called and reported they had retrieved it. The owner was advised of the city ordinance about having pets licensed and was given five days to comply.

10:47 a.m. Investigated smoke coming from a wooded area in town. The property owner had started a fire that had partially consumed a brush pile and had caused a ground fire in the adjacent wooded area. The owner had nearly extinguished the fire upon officer arrival. The property owner was warned for burning during a burning ban.

2:23 p.m. Received a call from a passerby who was concerned for the welfare of a person lying on the ground in the park. The person was sunbathing.

5:33 p.m. Assisted with an ambulance call.

Sept. 26

8:52 a.m. Took a report of people shouting in an apartment. Two people were engaged in a loud discussion that was not threatening.

9:27 a.m. Assisted with a civil property matter.

10:38 a.m. Assisted with an ambulance call.

12:22 p.m. Assisted with a civil property matter.

3:30 p.m. Took a report of some children left unattended in a vehicle. The vehicle was gone upon officer arrival.

11:59 p.m. Assisted the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office with a 911 hang-up call thought to have originated in New York Mills. The call was later traced to Vining.

Sept. 27

8:12 a.m. Assisted Minnesota State Patrol with a travel trailer that had gone off Highway 10 and into the median.

10:46 a.m. Cited a minor in possession of tobacco.

5:14 p.m. Assisted a motorist who had locked their keys in their car.

Sept. 28

10:00 a.m. Cited a motorist for speeding.

11:57 a.m. Took a report of a large pile of garbage and debris outside of a local residence. It was primarily aluminum cans for recycling. The resident agreed to clean it up.

Sept. 29

8:24 p.m. Cited a motorist for speeding and driving after suspension.
