Shawna Loerzel, a Perham High School student, was recently presented with the school’s highest agricultural honor: the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by the Monsanto Company.

Loerzel, daughter of Rich and Denise Loerzel, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience.

Loerzel’s significant experiences and accomplishments have included a love and devotion to agriculture, great work ethic and a four-year membership on the Perham FFA’s general livestock team.

Loerzel’s agricultural education instructor at PHS is Shell Tumberg.

The year, the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award celebrates its 67th anniversary. Over the years, more than 168,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the award, which has become a symbol for excellence.

As the winner of the 2014 award, Loerzel’s name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Perham High School.
